B-Sides Art Song Residency
Does your taste of music skew towards niche?
Have you ever said, "I don't get pop music these days"?
Do you even know what an art song is?
We're not talking about St. Paul's glorious Art Song's Wings. We're talking about the vast spectrum of songs throughout the ages. The stuff you've never heard before—the stuff you'll want to hear again.
B-Sides Art Song Residency is a monthly gathering for Twin Cities musicians who use the art of song to make YOU feel FEELINGS. Each show will feature two sets of songs by two sets of musicians. Plus, there will be refreshments so all attending can let their nerd flag fly and connect with fellow song lovers.
A song can be a love letter, a gut check, a sprawling epic, or that bubblegum on the radio tube. Song also happens to be the easiest thing to publish, which means there are a ton of 'em floating around on paper that people haven't heard in decades or even centuries. B-Sides tasks the art songsters of MN with searching for these forgotten gems and breathing new life into them for new audiences.
Hosted by the overtly non-precious Art Song Duo Baritone Justin Spenner and Pianist Carson Schneider (Hive fans might remember the creepy "Winter's Journey"). Buzz on down to the Hive and vibe out to the best songs ever forgotten.
